Matthew Barney

Artwork Information
This print series was created in a collaboration between video artist Matthew Barney and New York print studio Two Palms. Barney is most well-known for his theatrical videos, bold sculptures, and installation pieces, which are often layered with references and shrouded in mystery.

This print series features four Woodburytypes depicting hazy images of a beaten-down car and a woman lying on top of it. They're decorated with gold leaf and copper detailing. Not much is known about the meaning behind this series, but its title comes from the poem “Uriel” by Ralph Waldo Emerson, which has themes of philosophical thought and the Biblical creation stories.
