ELECTRIC: New Mural in Philadelphia by Rebecca Rutstein

June 1, 2022 - Philadelphia. The Bridgette Mayer Gallery is thrilled to announce the launch of Electric, a new mural project in Philadelphia by artist Rebecca Rutstein, at The LVL North located at 510 North Broad Street (Broad and Spring Garden Streets). The mural activates the Brandywine Street corridor and marks a significant gateway on the North Broad Street corridor that includes Philadelphia's Science Leadership Academy High School, renowned Rodeph Shalom Synagogue, historic Divine Lorraine Hotel, artist studios, restaurants and the neighboring Community College of Philadelphia. Adorning the facade of this brand-new, mixed-use building, the nearly 30-foot by 106-foot wall is Rutstein's second major mural project in Philadelphia. The dynamic and colorful design has been created to complement the interior narrative, and is a contemporary counterpoint to the classic murals surrounding the area, capturing the energy of this burgeoning neighborhood north of City Hall. When asked about the mural, Rutstein stated:

I am really grateful to have had the opportunity to create another major public work in Philadelphia, and along the prominent Broad Street corridor. I hope this mural creates a positive experience for the students next door at Science Leadership Academy High School, for the residents of the new building it adorns, and for people passing by on Broad Street. The color and movement in the piece are inspired by the interior narrative of the building, and capture the energy of this diverse community.
