Alexis Serio “HIDING THE FENCE”
September 1 – September 25, 2004

The luminescent and changing light of a beautiful sunset. Ice skating on a frozen pond late November. Walking barefoot through a lush green field mid-Spring. Watching quickly moving scenery through a car window. The paintings of Alexis Serio capture what it is to be human. Moments in time and memory-some clear, some hazy that remain in ensconced in our minds.

The Bridgette Mayer Gallery presents Alexis Serio, “Hiding the Fence.” This show presents a series of new paintings on canvas and charcoal on paper works highlighting a young, emerging artist who has a passion for recreating love in moments.

In her own words, Ms. Serio states, “I am interested in capturing the fleeting light that exists in nature, while also developing a painting where the viewer can have a personal connection with this subject that is so universal and often times overlooked.

Our experience in the landscape goes beyond vision to incorporate all of our senses. We hear the crunch of leafs underfoot as autumn gives way to winter; we taste the crisp cool air as we take it into our lungs; we smell the onset of spring through the blossoming flowers; we feel the sun’s temperature on our skin during summer months…”

Opening Reception: First Friday, September 3rd 6:00-8:30 p.m.
