Bridgette Mayer Gallery is thrilled to announce Materiality a group exhibition featuring Neil Anderson (1933-2021), Ray Beldner, Tim McFarlane, Sarah Helen More, Rebecca Rutstein, Dina Wind (1938-2014) & Jason Woodside.
Ma-te-ri-al-ity. (noun) The quality or character of being material or composed of matter. Law: The quality of being relevant or significant.
Materiality features paintings, mixed media works and sculpture that highlight each featured artist’s interest in utilizing additional materials outside of paint and canvas to explore their creative practice and studio work. Looking at the exploration of ideas through steel, fabric, wood, mosaic, paper, aluminum and canvas accentuates each artists intention and underlying ideas in the works themselves.
Materiality will be on view from Tuesday, November 4 to Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Bridgette Mayer Gallery. On Friday, November 14th the gallery will host an artist reception & happy hour from 5:00 to 7:30pm in celebration the exhibition. This event is free and open to the public.
In discussing the curated artists and works for the exhibition, Gallery Director Bridgette Mayer shares:
“I have an interest in artmaking in all material forms. My gallery program highlights artists that come at their practice primarily as abstract painters but have expanded their repertoire over many years to include flat and 3-D sculptures. I am excited to share the dialogue between each artists’ chosen materials in their artmaking as well as explore the overlap and contrast with these artists in the entirety of the show.”
